We’re an extension of Vivian’s internal brand design team, and support them with ongoing graphic design needs as well as illustration, iconography, animation, and more.
Vivian's mission is to empower every healthcare professional to find their perfect job opportunity, faster and easier than ever before. Tributary’s capabilities help Vivian make a bigger impact with its marketing efforts and customer retention. We not only help them with their day to day graphic design needs — with digital ads, email newsletters, marketing campaigns, blog content, and more — but we play a crucial role in expanding their brand toolkit.
Most notably, we helped Vivian achieve a complete graphic overhaul, including over 55 custom illustrations, 50 marketing icons, and 220 product glyphs. These elements are used across Vivian’s mobile app, desktop site, digital ads, and print collateral. The robust brand illustration system is broken down into 4 categories: Hero Illustrations, Spot Illustrations, Icons, and Glyphs.
Hero Illustrations
Hero illustrations are the highest fidelity pixel graphics in a system, communicating complex, sometimes abstract ideas. In Vivian’s case, they feature full body nurse characters performing actions or interacting with other characters. Hero Illustrations can be used across product and marketing campaigns.
Spot Illustrations
Spot Illustrations are high fidelity pixel graphics that focus on a clear action, category, or feature. In Vivian’s system, they depict objects and cropped details of nurses. Illustrations can be used across product and marketing surfaces.
Icons
Icons are higher fidelity vector graphics that explain a concept in the simplest terms. Icons can be reused for multiple occasions, and live across product & marketing surfaces. Special attention was brought to fill ratio and stoke width, to maintain a consistent and scalable iconography system.
Glyphs
Glyphs are simple, monochromatic vector graphics to be used exclusively in product design. Most glyphs have an outlined and a filled state. They are the lowest fidelity brand graphic and express a functional action or descriptor. Each one should only have 1 clear idea expressed. Prior to this custom product glyph library, Vivian utilized a mix of stock iconography that was visually inconsistent and damaging to the user experience. Special attention was brought to the amount of curved vs. pointed edges per glyph to ensure a cohesive library.
